Dr. Roberto Madrid is a seasoned physician with a remarkable journey that began when he immigrated to the United States as a young child. Growing up in the vibrant but underserved area of downtown Los Angeles before settling in South Gate, California, his early experiences instilled in him a deep sense of resilience and determination.
His educational path reflects a commitment to excellence and continuous growth. Dr. Madrid earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from UCLA, followed by his medical degree from the Drew/UCLA Medical Education Program. He pursued further education, obtaining an MBA from UC Irvine Merage School of Business and participating in prestigious leadership programs at USC and the California Healthcare Foundation.
Dr. Madrid's career trajectory is marked by his unwavering dedication to advancing healthcare delivery and improving patient outcomes. As Vice President of Medical Group Operations at PIH Health System in Los Angeles, he played a pivotal role in shaping the organization's integrated delivery system. His efforts in developing frameworks for managed care, particularly in Medicare Advantage, expanded access to quality healthcare for seniors, positively impacting countless lives.
Prior to his tenure at PIH Health , Dr. Madrid served in leadership roles at prominent organizations such as CalOptima, United HealthCare, in the Western United States and Orthonet, LLC. His expertise in quality improvement, analytics, and managed care administration consistently drove excellence in healthcare delivery with impressive, measurable outcomes.
Beyond his corporate endeavors, Dr. Madrid is deeply committed to medical education and community service. His appointment as Director of Medical Education at St. George University underscores his passion for nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
A board-certified family physician and member of the American Academy of Family Practice, Dr. Madrid is fluent in Spanish, reflecting his dedication to serving diverse communities. His accomplishments, including Lean Six Sigma certification, highlight his relentless pursuit of operational excellence and innovation in healthcare management.
